For some, comfort is held in clarity, in a myopic interpretation or representation of lived experiences. For others, it’s life’s paradoxes that are deemed most truthful and authentic to the world we come from. The latter is likely the case for Anish Kapoor, the Indian-born British abstract and conceptual artist whose art has long existed within this world of duality: solid and fluid; order and whimsy; limited turned limitless. The dichotomies are evident even in his earliest works, which are currently on display in Anish Kapoor: Early Works at the Jewish Museum in New York until February 1, 2026.
